My latest tech client will be 90 years old soon and has been working with me for a little over a month. We’re practicing making phone calls and answering phone calls on a Jitterbug phone. Last week, my student was able to successfully answer a two phone calls after I left. The process looked like this:

  • Daughter calls to ask for tech help for her mother.

  • We set up regular sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

  • Notes were provided to help the client navigate the various steps it takes to make a phone call.

  • After 4 weeks, the client could follow the steps without the notes and we reduced our sessions to 2 weeks.

  • Since then, our client has been answering phone calls on her own.

  • Our goal is to help our client call her daughter once a day and be comfortable enough to answer a majority of her phone calls.
